Doxorubicin is a highly potent chemotherapeutic agent, but its use is limited by dose-dependent cardiotoxicity. Redox-induced cardiotoxicity includes increased oxidative stress and activation of endoplasmic reticulum-mediated apoptosis. Alginate Oligosaccharide possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-ER stress properties, and is a non-immunogenic, non-toxic and biodegradable polymer. Studies have shown that pretreatment with Alginate Oligosaccharide alleviates redox-induced myocardial oxidative stress and is a potent compound that prevents acute redox cardiotoxicity, at least in part, by inhibiting oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum-mediated apoptosis.
Note: The Alginate Oligosaccharide used in this experiment comes from our company, Qingdao BZ Oligo Biotech Co., Ltd.
As shown in the figure, Alginate oligosaccharide pretreatment significantly reduced redox-induced cardiac damage
