oligo-mannuronic acid, produced by enzymatic hydrolysis of m segments of fucoidan, has the functions of anti-dementia, improving immunity, anti-tumor, anti-oxidation, lowering blood sugar, blood so on.
To study the effect of oligo-mannuronic acid on mouse immune function, the effect of oligo-mannuronic acid on splenic cell proliferation was determined by mtt method, and the effect of oligo-mannuronic acid on mouse spleen lymphocyte proliferation induced by concan a and lipopolysaccharide (lps) was determined.
Results The oligo-mannuronic acid could promote the proliferation of mouse spleen cells and improve the spleen index of mice. meanwhile, oligo-mannuronic acid can promote ConA and LPS induced proliferation of t and b lymphocytes, indicating that oligo-mannuronic acid can improve cellular and humoral immune levels in the body. The oligo-mannuronic acid can obviously promote the ability of peritoneal macrophages to phagocytosis of neutral red, suggesting that oligo-mannuronic acid can improve the ability of nonspecific immunity. The content of hemolysin in serum of mice was also significantly increased by oligo-mannuronic acid. To sum up, oligo-mannuronic acid can improve the body's humoral immunity, cellular immunity and non-specific immunity, which may be one of the mechanisms of its increase in white blood cells in mice.
