Origin From: Crab shells
Molecular Formula: (C6H11NO4)n
Character: The appearance is grayish-white, non-toxic, tasteless, amorphous, translucent, pearlescent flake or powdery solid; decomposed at 185°c. Insoluble in water and alkali solution, soluble in dilute hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and other inorganic acids, as well as most organic acids.
Product application:
1. in the field of papermaking, cationic chitosan is widely used in various papermaking auxiliaries with the following excellent characteristics :
(1) linear water-soluble polymer with large relative molecular weight, strong film-forming ability and sufficient adhesion strength to the fiber ;
(2) good compatibility with cellulose without destroying the hydrogen bond between cellulose molecules ;
(3) functional groups can fully contact the paper fiber and can firmly bind it through ionic bonds or hydrogen bonds; and
(4) nontoxic, biodegradable natural products.
2. in the field of tobacco, chitosan is a good performance of tobacco thin film glue, and has the characteristics of improving taste, burning non-toxic and no odour.
3. in the field of environmental protection: for sewage treatment, protein recovery, water purification and so on.
4. in the field of functional materials: for membrane materials, carriers, adsorbents, fibers, medical materials, etc.
5. in the field of textile: used for fabric finishing, health care underwear, papermaking aids and so on.
6. in agriculture: for bio-organic fertilizer, seed treatment, soil improvement, feed addition, etc.
